Vintage Furniture

Ecotiques furniture is designed using one of kind vintage pieces that are individually refurbished using eco-friendly materials. The furniture is made using eco-friendly paint and reupholstered with 100% recycled polyester fabric, cork fabric, vintage fabric, or organic cotton fabric. The upholstered pieces are filled with natural latex and organic cotton batting. These one of a kind pieces are recycled into eco-friendly high-end designer collections.

Organic Cotton Batting and Fabric

Due to modern growth and manufacturing techniques, non-organic cotton contains the pesticides cyanide, dicofol, naled, propargite, and triflurali.  All five of these pesticides are cancer-causing chemicals.  Pesticides contaminate fertilizer which in turn pollutes drinking water on farms.  Cotton fertilizers and pesticides have killed and injured millions of fish, birds, and other wildlife.  In California, it is illegal to feed the leaves, stems and short fibers of cotton to livestock because of the amount of pesticide residue contained in these plants.  The leftover pieces are instead used to make furniture, mattresses, cotton balls, etc.  Three billion dollars worth of pesticides worldwide are used every year on cotton. Growing organic cotton prevents polluted groundwater, surface water, soil, and air.  By using items with organically grown cotton, you are choosing a lifestyle that can help the earth that will at the same time also be healthier for you body.

Cork Fabric

Cork comes from the Mediterranean and is a natural, renewable product.  Cork is the outer bark of the cork oak tree and it is harvested from individual trees approximately every decade.  The cork tree continues producing bark for 150-200 years.  While resistant to moisture damage and decay, cork is also easy to clean and maintain. Cork is made of natural ingredients, there are no dioxins produced in its manufacture, it is renewable and biodegradable, and it has a 50 or more year lifespan.

Cork comes in many different patterns as well as in natural, tinted and colored shades.  This material has a unique, beautiful and natural look to the design.  The pillows made of this material resemble the feel of leather.  Every cork pillow has its own sexy feel and individual design.

Hemp Fabric

The use of hemp fabric dates back to 8,000 BC and this material is one of the most eco-friendly fabrics. Hemp fibers are biodegradable and the hemp fabric used for the pillows is grown without herbicides, fungicides, or pesticides. The deep root system of the plant helps to prevent soil erosion, removes toxins from the soil, and aerates the soil for healthier crops.

Hemp fibers are one of the longest natural soft fibers in existence.  Fabric made from this material will keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Natural Latex

Natural Latex is made from a milky substance that drips from the rubber tree when the bark is slashed. The trees are not harmed during this process. These rubber trees grow on plantations in South-East Asia. Liquid latex is poured into specially developed aluminum molds, which form the Latex Core. The finished product is biodegradable. Latex is naturally resistant to dust mites, mold, fungus and mildew. It is hypo allergic. Natural Latex helps reduce body moisture to keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
